POLICE are appealing for information following a hate incident on December 2.
A woman was racially abused and had eggs thrown at her from a car along Gavin Road in Highwoods at around 9.30pm.
The white car was said to be a similar shape to a Suzuki Swift and it is believed that there were two men inside who were between their late teens and early 20s.
Following the attack on the woman in her 40s, the car then drove towards Titus Way.
PC Shaun Hammond, of the Colchester Community Policing Team, is investigating the incident.
He said: "This was a cowardly attack on a woman who was walking home alone.
"I want the people of Highwoods to come forward and give us as much information as possible about this incident.
"We won’t tolerate hate crime in Colchester, and I want to find the people responsible for this heinous act."
Anyone with information is asked to call Colchester police station on 101 quoting the crime reference number 42/176580/18 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
