TWO women have been arrested after a fight broke out in a pub.
The brawl happened at the Brewers Arms in Victoria Place, Brightlingsea.
Two women entered the pub and a fight broke out in which one of the victims was bitten in the stomach. One eye-witness said: “The women almost immediately went to someone they knew and started to cause a disturbance. They assaulted customers and were asked to leave, they had to be physically restrained.
“They then attacked other customers outside in the rear car park. They were punching, kicking, biting and spitting, and people were having drinks thrown over them.
“I was one of the ones bitten. It broke the skin and I was bleeding. It was not major - it’s just sensitive.”
The landlord of the pub did not wish to comment further during the ongoing police investigation but said a number of people were involved.
A spokesman for Essex Police confirmed two women were arrested following the incident at the pub. The spokesman said: “It was reported a man in his 60s was assaulted at The Brewers Arms in Victoria Place shortly before 10.55pm on January 3.
“The victim was punched, kicked and bitten. A 40-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and a 45-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and common assault. They have both been released on bail until January 28.”
