POLICE have cordoned off a town centre road after a man was found dead with a stab wound.
Officers and paramedics from the East of England Ambulance service are at Ryegate Road, Colchester.
Police were called by the ambulance service shortly after 8.20am today, Monday 11 February, with reports a man had been found deceased in Ryegate Road.
He had suffered a stab wound to his back.
A police spokesman said: "Enquiries remain at an early stage and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area this morning and saw what happened, or has any information, to call the North Major Crime team on 101 quoting incident 208 of today’s date.

Nobody is being allowed through the road which is adjacent to Colchester's Castle Park.
The nature of the incident has not yet been revealed.
