A RETRO bar is set to throw open its doors this weekend.
It has taken two months to transform the inside of the former Waikiki bar into Rubix in Crouch Street.
Jeremy Durrant, who has set up the venture, said: “It is very exciting. People keep popping their heads in and saying they can’t wait for it to open.
- Operations manager Ross Thurston at the venue
“We have a found a little niche. It is feel good music.
"Everyone knows the songs and after a couple of drinks they are singing and dancing along.
“I don’t think there is a venue in town where you will have people in their teens and early 20s dancing alongside people in their 30s, 40s and 50s.
"It is a chance for them to all come along and party together whatever age.”
The venue will offer Seventies, Eighties, Nineties nights.
There will also be a students night on Thursdays and a Ladies Night on Sundays.
The venue will have a retro sweet shop, novelty cocktails and a big video screen.
Visitors will also be invited to don their best fancy dress for each era.
