ANIMAL lovers were invited to a popular therapy farm to help a very special pig celebrate a milestone birthday.

Dedham Therapy Farm hosted a special open day last Sunday for members of the public.

Visitors were invited to visit the farm in honour of Peppa the pig’s tenth birthday.

The Kunekune is a particular favourite at the venue and a big fan of the special attention she receives from the public.

Megan Dack, administrator at the farm, said: “Peppa was the star of the show.

“She is really friendly and she is quite a character.

“She will sometimes sit on command for people and she loves being brushed.

“Peppa can also be a lazy pig and spends a lot of time in bed.

“She was one of the first animals we rehomed five years ago and she came with her brother George who sadly passed away last year.

“Since then she has really come into her own and she enjoys getting extra treats and attention.”

On Sunday there were special pig themed activities for those attending to enjoy including face painting and youngsters had the chance to hold some of the farm’s smaller animals.

Dedham Therapy Farm is a community interest company which uses animals, nature and the outdoors to help people recover from a range of challenges.

The firm also runs the Nurture Dogs project, which provides Animal-assisted therapy.

The organisation is run as a not for profit enterprise and so donations made on its open days are extremely important

Ms Dack said: “It can be difficult as we have low resources and over the last couple of years it has been a struggle to get funding.

“We have had to work really hard over the past 18 months to make sure we are able to keep offering services.

“We rely heavily on donations and the open days are important for us.”

The public are able to visit the animals at the farm each weekend in exchange for a small donation.
