BRAVE teddy bears took a leap of faith from a church roof in an annual fundraiser.
St Michael’s Church in Brantham held its popular teddy bear parachute jump.
Families created their own parachutes from scarves, plastic bags and foil and strapped their daredevil teddies to their inventions.
They then paid for them to be hoisted to the top of the church in a basket and dropped over the edge.
The winner was the teddy bear to stay airborne for the longest.
Characters taking part this year included Noddy Toyland Detective, Spongebob Squarepants, and Piglet.
The Rev Stephne Van Der Toorn said: “It was a really great day, we had more than 85 registrations and must have had 200 launches.
“Adding to the fact that it was a lovely day, we raised more than £1,400 for the church, which was a splendid effort.
“I want to thank the community for helping and the generous sponsors.”
The winner, staying airborne for 43.12 seconds, was Carol’s bear, second place was Hannah at 37.97 seconds and third place went to Eeyore who took 37.78 seconds to reach the ground.
Prizes were £50 for the winner, £30 for second place and £20 for third alongside a raffle with a top price of a Fortnum and Mason hamper sponsored by Thompson, Smith and Puxon.
