THERE’S a lot to like about Putt in the Park...but it comes at a price.
A posh take on the cheap-and-cheerful day out, the course certainly looks the part with its Roman design.
But the London prices make this an expensive trip to the park.
The prices are only a few quid more than PlayGolf’s course (£26 for a family ticket, rather than £22), but with fewer holes and some grub (£4 for a bacon sandwich and £2.25 for an Americano), this certainly isn’t a day out on a budget.
That being said, designer Steve Vallory has done a brilliant job blending this new attraction in with the tranquil setting of Castle Park.
Having a swing myself, it’s definitely on the high quality end of crazy golf courses with gimmicks and twists on every hold.
There are also plenty of water features to whack your ball into (trust me!)
There have been concerns about the alcohol licence but it didn’t strike me as the place to attract boozy behaviour.
The course closes when the park shuts, so it won’t turn Castle Park into a “late night drinking den”, according to co-founder Justin Fish.
I can see this being a good evening out for students, so I feel they’re missing out by not offering them a discount.
But it’s still £8 each if there’s four of them, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to swing by for a game and enjoy a beer afterwards.
