THE Lib Dems' former health spokesman visited Colchester to throw his weight behind the party's campaign in the town.
On Tuesday Lib Dem candidate Martin Goss was joined by former former North Norfolk MP Sir Norman Lamb on the campaign trail.
Mr Lamb, who is standing down at December 12’s election, held a number of roles in the coalition Government including Minister of State for Care and Support in the Department for Health.
He went on to be the party's chief of staff as well as health spokesman.
Mr Goss said: “He came to Colchester because he realises it is a very winnable seat for the Lib Dems.
"He wants to see me elected as MP to continue the good work Bob Russell did in Parliament and he wanted to come support me personally as we are friends.
"We met with Dr Stephen Pitt, of The Dental Studio, in Bergholt Road, to talk about NHS funding in dentistry.
"He has had to make the decision to only do private work because of funding.
“He also wanted to come down and support my advocacy of the Lib Dem policy on mental health. We are planning to invest £7 billion a year.
"Children's mental health is the worst it has ever been and the services in Colchester are derisory."
Mr Goss added: “He is a high-profile figure for us and he wanted to come along and show his support.”
- The other candidates in Colchester are: Mark Goacher (Green), Tina McKay (Lab) and Will Quince (Con)
