THESE images from the archives this week look at a subject close to home.
They feature Q B Ltd, which was based in Sheepen Road where magazines and newspapers including what was then the Evening Gazette were printed.
The company was set up by Hervey Benham, whose name has appeared many times in the Memories section, having come from a family of news pioneers and Arnold Quick.
Hervey was the son of William Gurney Benham, former Mayor of Colchester and editor of the Essex County Standard.
The printworks quickly pioneered the pioneering web-offset process in printing which used etched metal plates which apply ink onto a sheet of paper continuously fed through the press.
