TWO men have been told they could face jail after admitting to a bottle attack which left the victim with a gruesome cut on his face.
Victim Nathan French was slashed with the broken glass in an attack at the skatepark close to Leisure World in Cowdray Avenue, Colchester, where he had been sitting with a friend.
Detectives launched an urgent appeal for information after the attack - which Mr French’s friend caught on camera.
Two men - Darryl Rolfe and Rhys Welham - were later arrested.
During a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court, Rolfe and Welham both admitted unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The pair denied a second charge of affray relating to the same incident.
Richard Potts, prosecuting, said he needed to confirm whether the pleas were acceptable to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Judge Patricia Lynch QC said the court would proceed that they would be.
Both Sascha Bailey, representing, Welham, and Stephen Levy, for Rolfe, asked for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
Judge Lynch QC warned the pair they could face jail terms.
“I am adjourning until a date not before July 14 when you will be sentenced.
“The prosecution have got to consult with the complainant regarding the second count but we will proceed as if the pleas are acceptable.
“I have acceded to a pre-sentence report being prepared for both you.
“You should know that the custody threshold has been passed but all options will remain open.”
The crown has a week to alert the court as to whether they intend to proceed with the second count.
Rolfe, 29, of Viscount Drive, Colchester, and Welham, 26, of Hazelton Road, Colchester, were both granted bail until their next hearing.
They must not contact each other, nor any of the prosecution witnesses.
Judge Lynch QC also ordered the pair of defendants to co-operate with any requests for appointments with the probation service.
