A MAN dressed in a yellow dog costume was detained by police officers at an entrance to Colchester Garrison.
Officers with Essex Police and Colchester's Military Police were filmed leading the man into a waiting police car.
A witness, who asked not to be named, said: "I saw them detaining a man, who looked like he was dressed as Pudsey bear, on the floor.
"I couldn't quite believe it."
The incident unfolded at around 5pm today, at the entrance to Merville Barracks, Circular Road South, Colchester.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called around 3.40pm this afternoon, Thursday 27 August, with report of a man acting suspiciously on South Circular Road in Colchester.
"Officers arrived and a 53-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.
"He remains in police custody."
