HI-DE-HI! was a slice of TV gold.
The vintage sit-com was set in the fictional holiday camp of Maplins but partly filmed at the former Warners holiday park in Dovercourt.
It was set during the 50s and 60s and written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, who also penned Dad’s Army and It Ain’t Half Hot Mum.
The much-loved show, which finished in 1988 and revolved around the lives of the camp’s management and entertainers, was loosely based on Butlin's.
It was a smash hit, winning a Bafta in 1984 for best comedy series and running for eight years and 58 episodes.
Warners doubled up as Hi-de-Hi’s Maplins for almost a decade before closing in 1990.
It has since been redeveloped for housing.
The show launched the careers of actors like Jeffrey Holland and Su Pollard.
Surviving stars have often returned to the town for a reunion and, in 2013, episodes and rare clips were shown at Harwich's Electric Palace.
It was followed by a question and answer session with the stars.
We've had a delve into the archives to see how our coast played its part the show, showing the popular characters out and about on set.
