A MAN charged with murder after the fatal stabbing of a father in Greenstead has appeared in court.
Pheonix Lee, 19, of no fixed address, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court via videolink from Chelmsford prison on Friday.
He has been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Affleck Road, Greenstead, Colchester, shortly after 12.15am on Friday, December 11.
Lee, who spoke only to confirm his name and that he understood proceedings, was remanded in custody until a plea and trial preparation hearing on April 12.
A trial date has been provisionally set for August 9.
Alinjavwa Siwale, 22, from Colchester, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a teenager was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Sheldon McKay, of no fixed address, also appeared in court earlier this week to face a charge of murder in connection with the incident.
A 17-year-old girl arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail until January 6.
A 20-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail until January 5.
Detectives are continuing to appeal for any witnesses.
