FINDING a job in this day and age is not easy for anyone.
You have to qualifications, stacks of them, and charity work and references from everyone from the Pope downwards.
So imagine if you have learning difficulties. You may have some qualifications but you have extra hurdles to negotiate every day of your life.
But does that mean you have nothing to give? Not for a moment.
The staff at Market Field School in Elmstead Market dedicate their working lives to teaching the children with learning difficulties as well as giving them social skills, structure, emotional support and self esteem.
By the time they finish their education, they have the world at their feet but what then?
Was all that for nothing as they can’t find work?
Now a generous father has bought a 50 acre plot of land for the school to create its own farm.
There the graduates of Market Field School will learn how to work in the business world, learn what is expected of them and how to cope with a whole new set of challenges.
The school hopes this will be a conduit between school and the working world so the youngsters can go on to have fulfilled lives and can contribute to society.
It is the final piece of the jigsaw for devoted head teacher Gary Smith and we dearly hope this dream will soon become a reality.
So congratulations to the kind benefactor and to the school.
It just shows what can be achieved if you dare to dream.
