NORMALLY the Bank Holiday after Christmas would be one of the busiest days of the year for retailers in Colchester.
However, with the borough entering Tier 4 of the Government coronavirus restrictions on Saturday, all non-essential retailers were forced to close.
The town was deserted on Monday morning with just a few food shops and the like open to customers.
Here are some eerie photos from the town centre this morning:
- The Britannia Car Park was almost empty
- There were no shoppers in Colchester High Street
- A quiet Queen Street
- Head Street is normally very busy
- Long Wyre Street was deserted

- Head Street is normally bustling
