THERE are only one group of people who are more irresponsible than the partygoers who ignore social distancing rules and that is the Covid deniers.
These are the people who claim the reports on the severity of Covid-19 are an exaggeration.
They don’t believe hospitals are in crisis and dispute the terrible death toll which is a result of the virus.
In Colchester, some Covid deniers went into the hospital to take pictures of empty corridors to “prove” their assertion the seriousness of the situation has been overstated.
Did they go into the wards?
Did they go into the intensive care unit or hold the hand of a dying patient?
Did they comfort the grieving relative of a someone who had lost their life to Covid?
No (thank goodness) but they still thought they knew better.
We may not all agree with the politicians nor the way the pandemic has been handled in this country.
We may want to question the decisions taken and the presentation of facts.
But we cannot deny this terrible virus exists and that is has claimed thousands upon thousands of lives.
We must give our scientists and medics the trust and respect they deserve and not undermine their superhuman efforts on our behalf.
If you were lying in an intensive care bed relying on oxygen to breathe, would you deny the virus then?
I think not.
Let’s hope you never have to find out.
