AN A- Level student has welcomed the Government’s U-turn on exams but said it had come after enduring “months of stress”.
Niamh Hodgkinson, from Great Horkesley, had been campaigning for GCSE and A-Level exams to be axed for a second year before the third lockdown was announced.
Niamh, 17, is studying psychology, English literature and early modern history at Colchester Sixth Form College.
She welcomed the Government’s decision to cancel exams this summer.
She said: “After the announcement I was quite happy due to students finally been taken into consideration.
“Although I am happy about the decision made, I believe if the decision was made prior to this when Scotland and Wales both made their decision students wouldn’t be in as much stress and the plan of action would be more thought out.”
Niamh, who hopes to go on to join the police force, said the stress caused by the uncertainty had affected many of her peers.
She added: “I feel our mental health still should be taken into consideration as when we will hopefully return to face-to-face learning.”
