A flood alert has been issued with some roads expected to be hit by high water levels today.
The Environment Agency has issued a warning for the River Colne between Colchester and Great Yeldham.
Minor flooding in expected to low-lying land, roads and riverside areas throughout Monday and into the evening.
The warning states: "River levels are remaining high as the water moves through the system in response to the recent rainfall.
"River levels will respond to the further rainfall expected.
"We are not currently expecting the situation to escalate.
"The forecast is for a dry day for most of Monday, but persistent rainfall will arrive Monday evening and throughout the night and into Tuesday morning."
Residents are advised to take care on riverside roads and footpaths and not put themselves in unnecessary danger.
Colchester was hit by flooding last week after a deluge of rain fell across Essex.
