SIX lucky neighbours from Colchester have won a life-changing share of £210,000 thanks to their lucky postcode.
CO4 0NY in St John’s has been announced as the latest winner of the People’s Postcode Lottery today.
Five neighbours won £30,000 each, with one lucky player taking home £60,000 after playing with two tickets.
Here is a video of the big reveal:
Richard Holland, 52, was lost for words after ambassador Jeff Brazier revealed he was the £60,000 winner on a video call.
He was joined on the call by wife Tracy, who is an A&E receptionist.
The father of two said: “I think we’re both completely overwhelmed by this.
“Things like this just don’t happen to us and after the year we’ve had this is really a great start to 2021.”
Underwriter Caroline Barnes, 36, said her and partner Matt would be heading off on the holiday of a lifetime to Mauritius with her £30,000 - once coronavirus restrictions are lifted of course.
Doreen Blair, 76, and husband Nigel, 65, said the £30,000 would change their lives and were delighted some of their neighbours could share in their win.
Colin Freeman, 78, plans to use some of his winnings to help his only granddaughter Sophie-Kate travel to New Zealand on her gap year.
“This year has definitely started better than we thought it would,” he said.
The two other winners decided to stay anonymous.
“It sounds like there will be a few corks being popped around Colchester this evening.”
People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day.
