DEBRA Jackson has been described as an “absolute warrior” for her tireless, kind-hearted actions during the pandemic.
Our latest community champion is a carer at Oaklands Care Home in Brightlingsea.
The home, in Church Road, describes itself as “family-inspired” and when it comes to love, warmth and attention to detail, it’s hard to think of a better example than Debra.
Danielle Lovett, whose nan spent time in the home, made contact to suggest we include her efforts in our weekly round-up.
She said: “Debra has worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic, as always ensuring the residents are as happy as possible.
“Every day is full of activities and every event is celebrated from Easter and Halloween to Guy Fawkes to Christmas.
“You name it, they do it.
“She even organises birthday presents and cakes for every resident and escorted one lady to her granddaughter’s wedding.
“Debra came to my nan’s funeral last year and still stays in touch with us.
“She’s an absolute warrior and nothing is too much trouble.
“The residents and their families would be absolutely lost without her and I’d like to say thank you for going above and beyond every single day.”
* Do you know someone who has gone the extra mile during the pandemic?
From collecting shopping and donations to running errands and raising money, the challenges of the past year have brought the best out in certain people.
Give us their name and tell us what they’ve done to help, support and inspire you and others. If you have a picture, even better.
