Colchester United’s stadium has reopened as a mass vaccination centre following a temporary closure caused by heavy snow.
Essex Partnership University Trust (EPUT), which is running the Covid-19 vaccination rollout at the stadium, was finally able to reopen the venue today.
It was closed between Sunday, February 7 and yesterday due to weather warnings for strong winds and heavy snow being issued across Essex.
The mass vaccination centre at Clacton Hospital officially opened its doors to patients needing their jabs yesterday.
The hospital, in Tower Road, was due to open last Sunday as a vaccination centre, but adverse weather conditions left health bosses with no choice but to postpone the opening date.
An EPUT spokesman said patients who had their vaccinations cancelled over the past few days due to severe weather conditions can rebook their appointment on the NHS national booking website or by calling 119.
She said: “If you will be attending an appointment at one of our centres over the next few days, please plan your journey carefully and wrap up warmly.”
Extra vaccination slots will be running this weekend across north Essex sites.
If you need further help booking an appointment in north east Essex you can call 0344 2573 961 between 10am and 4pm.
