FIREFIGHTERS managed to save a swan which was trapped in a frozen lake.
A crew from Colchester was called to a frozen lake in Woodcock Close, in Colchester, at 11am yesterday (Sunday, February 14).
The swan, which had been trapped in the ice for several hours, was weak and unable to move.
To reach the swan, the crew used a water rescue path and a sled to venture across the lake.
They were accompanied by a team from the RSPCA, and together they rescued the bird and brought it back to safety.
The swan was then left in the care of the RSPCA.
An RSPCA spokesman has been contacted for comment.
