TWO parts of Colchester have seen their Covid infection rate rise by 250 per cent in the space of a week.
The infection rate has also risen in more parts of Colchester than it has fallen, compared with a week earlier.
A map compiled using Government data shows both West Mersea and Wivenhoe and University have seen 250 per cent increases in their Covid rates compared with a week earlier.
The figures, from the seven days to February 23, also show a total of 11 areas have seen an increase in their infection rate.
Six areas have seen their rate decrease, whilst two haven't seen a change.
Marks Tey and Wakes Colne has the highest Covid rate in the borough, of 265.3 cases per 100,000 people.
This has increased 155.6 per cent compared with a week earlier.

Horkesley Heath, Langham and Dedham has the lowest infection rate, with less than three cases recorded during the seven days to February 23.

- Stanway - 153.4 (down 6.7 per cent)
- Prettygate & Westlands - 150.4 (up 83.3 per cent)
- Lexden - 141 (no change)
- New Town & Hythe - 134.8 (up 11.8 per cent)
- Central Colchester - 120.6 (up 100 per cent)
- Highwoods - 100.7 (up 25 per cent)
- Old Heath & Rowhedge - 97.9 (down 43.8 per cent)
- West Mersea - 96.1 (up 250 per cent)
- West Bergholt & Wormingford - 92.2 (no change)
- Tiptree - 92.1 (up 133.3 per cent)
- Abbey Field - 89 (up 16.7 per cent)
- Greenstead - 88.3 (up 33.3 per cent)
- Shrub End - 84 (down 38.5 per cent)
- Layer-de-la-Haye, Abberton & Mersea East - 83.4 (down 30 per cent)
- Wivenhoe & University - 58.3 (up 250 per cent)
- Monkwick - 58.1 (down 50 per cent)
- Mile End & Braiswick - 53.7 (down 42.9 per cent)
- Horkesley Heath, Langham & Dedham - less than three cases (no data)
Colchester's average infection rate is 109.9 cases per 100,000 people.
This is because there were 214 cases confirmed in the week to February 23.
