LITTLE ones used their imaginations and dressed up as their favourite characters on World Book Day.

The national event was marked in style by staff and children at Busy Bees Day Nursery, on Colchester's Severalls Industrial Estate.

In addition to donning outfits, they shared special stories and learnt about authors and illustrators.

Centre director Kate Whitnell said: "Staff and children had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day.

"It was a time to share favourite stories with friends and dress up as characters.

"Our Foundation class children learnt all about the wonder of stories and how they are created, including the roles of an author and illustrator.

"They then created their own stories using props and their imagination."
