YOUNG scientists proved bright sparks during their first week back in the classroom.
Children at St Mary’s Lower School, in Colchester, took part in practical sessions and activities during British Science Week.
Year 1 pupils at the all-girls’ school conducted experiments using magnets, being challenged to find the best way to get a paperclip out of a cup of water without getting wet.
In Year 2, children explored their school grounds to see what living things they could find and there were plenty of other fun activities for older children at the Lexden Road school.
Emma Stanhope, director of St Mary’s Lower School, said: “We’ve had a wonderful variety of scientific experiences on offer.
“It’s been fantastic to see the pupils getting back into the classrooms and fully immersing themselves in all things science.”
