A BOOMING takeaway business which launched during the coronavirus pandemic is hoping to be named as one of Britain's favourites.
Burgers, Wings and Ribs launched inside a converted double decker bus back in May in Grange Way, Colchester.
The food firm proved such a success, the firm will soon have five sites in Essex and Suffolk.
And a whirlwind year for the fledgling business would be capped if it was successful in the British Takeaway Awards.
Colchester resident Jack Shaw, 32, owns the firm with his two business partners.
He said: “I am a web designer by trade and if you told me a year ago I would own five takeaways I would have laughed in your face.
“My two business partners aren’t food people either, one is a gas engineer and the other a professional boxer.
“We just had an idea and decided to go with it.
“The past year has been like a rollercoaster without any brakes.”

Burgers, Wings and Ribs serves food inspired by American fast-food chains.
Part of the so-called “dirty” food craze their portion sizes are huge.
The Instagram ready food is fast becoming a favourite among Essex celebrities, including Gemma Collins.
Jack said: “When we started it was just meant to be a little greasy spoon burger bar.
“But now our aim is to get 15 sites open by the end of 2022.
“It has been hard work and long hours. I’ve found myself in meat markets at 3am some mornings, but it is crazy busy at the moment.
“We have just recorded our busiest ever week with 1,254 deliveries and I think we will beat that again this week.
“Once the world returns to normal, each of the sites has an outdoor space, so we’re expecting things to get busier.”
He added: “We know we have a lot to learn, but things are going really well at the moment."
