FLEET-FOOTED children showed off their silky skills on the dancefloor to raise funds for a school project.
Two Village Primary School, in Mayes Lane, Ramsey, is planning to transform a former information and communications technology suite into an art and music studio.
It organised its first-ever sponsored danceathon to raise funds and, between them, energetic and enthusiastic children and staff danced all day.
They had disco balls, lights and non-stop feelgood tunes playing to keep them moving, even during playtime and lunch breaks.
Some of the children wore costumes, including blue wigs, fake moustaches, glittery or bejewelled faces and other carnival regalia.
In Year One, purple was proudly worn by class teacher Tacita Styant, special educational needs coordinator Melanie Massey and Kian Mitchell, six, to mark the fact it was also National Epilepsy Day.
Teachers took their children on a fascinating journey around the world by learning different dances and about different cultures, in the week leading up to the danceathon.
Years Five and Six were taught a line dance from America, while Year Four learnt Tanko Bushi, a traditional folk dance from Japan.
The younger ones in Year One learnt a Colombian Zumba dance and the whole school then danced Zumba together.
Headteacher Natasha Bennett said: “It was a fabulous way to finish the Easter term.
“The children really enjoyed being sponsored to dance and sing all day.
“It was a terrific boost for their well-being and helped exceed the fundraising target we initially set.
“We were overwhelmed by the generosity of our fantastic families who donated, as well as members of the wider community, including Iceland, who kindly donated £100.”
