A TEENAGER has suffered life-threatening injuries in a serious crash in Canewdon.
Police are on the scene of the crash, in Creeksea Ferry Road, in which a black Ford Fiesta Ghia veered off the road and into a ditch.
Five people were inolved in the crash. One of them, a woman, is believed to have left the scene and police are searching for her to make sure she is well.
Police say they were called to the scene of the crash at 1.50am this morning.
One of the people in the car, an 18-year-old woman, had sustained chest injuries.
Her condition is described as life-threatening and she has been taken to hospital, Essex Police said.
Three other people in the car are not believed to be seriously injured.
The fifth is believed to have left the scene.
The road has been closed while police investigate.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "If you saw anything, have any CCTV or dash cam footage or have any other information please call us on 101 quoting incident 85 of 4 April or 999 in an emergency.
