5G internet coverage is now available in parts of Colchester from a network provider
EE has today launched its 5G network in the town, joining 34 networks newly connected to the firm's network.
The network covers landmarks such as Colchester Castle Park and High Woods Country Park.
Other parts of Essex have already been connected in other parts of Essex like Chelmsford, Loughton and Grays.
The firm is expecting 5G to grow massively over the coming years and says it already has one million customers signed up to its 5G plans.
Connie Kerbst, senior programme manager and digital connectivity lead officer at Essex County Council said: “Digital connectivity is one of Essex County Council’s strategic priorities and we are delighted that the 5G rollout across Essex is continuing at pace.
"We look forward to working closely with EE to drive the adoption of 5G technologies by Essex residents and businesses.”

Jane Thomas, BT Group regional lead for the East of England, said: “It’s fantastic that EE has launched its 5G network in Colchester, connecting more places in Essex to the next generation in mobile network technology.
“With more people set to stay closer to home for short breaks and holidays this year, the fact people will have faster and more reliable connectivity is a real positive.
"We know how important it is for people to keep in touch with family and friends, post updates on social media, or use a navigation app to find their way around a new place, so the arrival of 5G here is a timely boost."
EE secured vital new spectrum in the first stage of Ofcom’s 5G auction last month, which will enable EE to expand and enhance its 5G network even further once rolled out into the network.
