A FORMER court is set to be turned into an HMO and studio flats after plans were rubber stamped.
LPB Homes has received planning permission to convert Falkland House, in Southway, into a 15-bed house of multiple occupation and nine studio apartments.
Falkland House was the old home of Colchester County Court and Family Court but became redundant when the new Colchester Magistrates' Court and Family Court was built in St Botolph's Circus.
Works are restricted to the interior of the building, apart from an office and cycle store being created at the back.

A planning report states: "The scheme addresses the three overarching objectives of the planning system, using land that is available for development to support the local economy, supporting a strong and vibrant community by facilitating the creation of a new HMO that meets the needs of present and future generations, and contributing to protecting the natural environment by re-using an existing building in the town centre."
