Roadworks on a busy route in and out of Colchester are causing delays.
Essex Highways is carrying out resurfacing works on Clacton Road and Colchester Road near to Elmstead market.
The surface dressing is taking place during the day and a diversion route is in place due to a road closure.
It is causing traffic to build up around the area including on Clingoe Hill and the B1028 towards Wivenhoe.
The roadworks are due to take place until next Wednesday.
The diversion route is as follows and works in revsere for those travelling in the opposite direction:
- Head north-east on Colchester Rd/A133
- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit
- Continue straight onto A120
- Take the A12/A1232 slip road to Ipswich/Colchester
- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Ipswich Rd/A1232
- At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto St Andrew's Ave/A133
- At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on St Andrew's Ave/A133
- At Greenstead Roundabout, take the 1st exit and stay on St Andrew's Ave/A133
- At Greenstead Roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on St Andrew's Ave/A133
- At Greenstead Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Clingoe Hill/A133. Continue to follow A133
