A SONGWRITER is taking a “leap of love” by jumping out of a plane to support grieving parents who have lost their babies.
Singer-songwriter Sarah Louise Isom has created a music video for her latest single, named Fly Free Little One, with the help of parents who have been through the tragic experience of the death of a child.
The song was created after the Colchester singer shared herself singing the chorus on TikTok, and she was then contacted by a woman who asked if she could use the sound clip for her daughter.
Sarah, 41, said: “I then said of course and checked her profile and saw her baby had sadly passed away and she was using my sound to explain what had happened to her.
“I then felt saddened and wanted to help in some way, so I messaged her and asked if she would like me to rewrite the song for her little girl.
“She also asked me the same thing at exactly the same time as she wanted a song for her funeral.”
Sarah then contacted a friend of hers who had also sadly lost her little boy to see if she wanted to contribute to the song’s lyrics.
She said: “I know how much pain she suffers in her heart and asked if she would share this with me which she did and I was able to create some heartfelt and emotional lyrics.”
Sarah then opened up to another friend who had been through the same traumatic experience of losing her baby - and she also added to the song’s lyrics.
The parents who contacted Sarah through TikTok helped her finish the song with their own words.
“The story behind the song, I feel, is magical and spiritual,” she added.
“It was quite beautiful how everyone was participating in this moving song and it has been an incredible journey so far.”
Sarah then pieced together the touching song in its entirety so people could hear the finished version.
As a way of helping raise more awareness, Sarah decided she would also sign up to the “leap of love” which is a charity skydive to remember a life.
“I thought how beautiful, and signed up,” she said.
So far Sarah has raised £651 and she will be jumping on May 1, which is a special day for her as it marks her grandmother’s birthday.
Her new album, called The Shift, is out now and includes the song Fly Free Little One.
She added: “I am really happy with how it has turned out and would like lots of bereaved parents to be able to hear it and hopefully it might give them some comfort in some way and break the silence of still born babies and the horrendous experience parents and families have to go through and hope they will find a way to speak openly about their experiences.”
