A HOUSE builder wants feedback on a controversial 600-home development.

Parker Strategic Land (PSL) is launching a public consultation into the proposal for 600 homes on the land to the south west of Coggeshall Road in Kelvedon.

The plans also include new public green space and parks.

PSL says it is also exploring opportunities for infrastructure, including land for a new primary school and enhanced pedestrian and cycle routes between Coggeshall and Kelvedon and to the railway station.

Critics say it will “destroy the heart of the village”.

PSL managing director Adrian Lott said: “We understand that residents are concerned about how development might affect them.

“However, we need residents and stakeholders to engage with us to help shape the proposals.

“We firmly believe our proposals are the best possible option for Kelvedon and Feering and we want to hear from local people so we can deliver a development that makes a sustainable and positive contribution to the local area.”

The plans are still in a pre-application phase, but it is believed the bid is part of a wider plan for up to 5,000 homes and a new town called Kings Dene.

Residents have formed a campaign group called Kelvedon Against Urban Sprawl to fight the development.

Spokesman Paul Thorogood said: “Feering is set to double in size by 2033.

“Kelvedon and Feering can’t take anymore new housing.

"They've more than done their bit. Enough is enough."
