It’s an absolute disgrace that the Ministry of Defence didn’t place a watertight covenant with no loopholes on Middlewick Ranges preventing it from being developed for housing. It’s also an absolute disgrace that Colchester Borough Council is being forced by central government dictat to overdevelop the borough.
Middlewick Ranges is already home to many and varied species of flora and fauna and if transformed from military usage to a nature park then that will add to the variety of species and it would become one of the finest jewels in the borough’s crown.
The spiritual, emotional and wellbeing value of a nature park in south Colchester is immeasurable when compared with a cramped and ugly new-build development.
