A MAN accused of murdering a woman is set to enter a plea to the charge next month.
Adam Butt, 21, is alleged to have stabbed Mary Wells, 21, at an address in Laing Road, Colchester, on January 17.
A provisional cause of death suggested she died of stab wounds to the neck and torso.
Butt, of Laing Road, Greenstead, is charged with murder.
At Chelmsford Crown Court, Judge Christopher Morgan set a plea and trial preparation hearing date for May 12.
Miss Wells’ family, who live in the United States, described her as a “bright” woman.
They said: ”She was looking to excel in life and will be loved and missed by all.”
