A man was airlifted to hospital in a life-threatening condition following a crash on the A12 yesterday (Wednesday, May 5).
Police were forced to close both sides of the carriageway between junctions 27 and 26 at Colchester after a pedestrian was hit by a lorry.
A spokesman for Essex Police says a man in his 30s sustained a head injury following the crash.
He was flown to hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Police say he is now in a critical but stable condition.
The incident happened at around 3.35pm on the southbound carriageway.
The carriageway remained closed until 6.30pm, when it partially reopened.
The northbound carriegway was also closed for a short while to allow an air ambulance to land.
