A BUSY road in Colchester town centre has been closed for work to repair a sinkhole.
St John's Street has been closed this afternoon due to the road defect.
Buses are currently being diverted via Southway and then continuing through to Head Gate.

Drivers should avoid the area if possible this afternoon.
First Essex says the road is closed due to a "burst water main" and its services will also be diverted.
There are long delays in St John's Street, which is a major part of town centre bus routes.
