A MAN accused of sexually assaulting a child is set to appear at crown court next month.
Nicolas Day, 24, will appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on May 4.
He is charged with sexual assault, two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and one count of causing a child to look at an image of sexual activity.
The offences allegedly took place between 2014 and 2017.
Day, of East Hill, Colchester, was released on unconditional bail until a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday, June 1.
A MAN who assaulted two police officers has been ordered to pay compensation.
Martin Shine, 43, admitted assaulting the police constables in Colchester in March.
Appearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on May 4, he admitted two charges of assaulting an emergency worker.
Shine, of Brickhouse Road, Colne Engaine, was fined £120 and ordered to pay £100 in compensation.
A FRAUDSTER has been spared an immediate prison sentence after he admitted to conning a woman out of £12,000.
Brian Catney, 65, used a woman's bank card to withdraw the money between December 2019 and August last year.
Appearing at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on May 5, he admitted fraud and possession of crack cocaine.
Catney, of Eldred Avenue, Colchester, was sentenced to nine months imprisonment, suspended for two years.
He must complete 260 hours of unpaid work and a ten-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
He was ordered to pay £6,000 in compensation to the victim.
A DRINK driver who was caught behind the wheel while more than three times the limit has been banned from the roads for four years.
Kaspars Kopnanis, 30, was found to have driven a Ford Transit van in Meyrick Crescent while over the legal alcohol limit.
A breath test recorded 133mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
Appearing at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on May 5, he admitted a charge of drink driving.
Kopnanis, of Meyrick Crescent, Colchester, was ordered to complete a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement and must complete 120 hours of unpaid work.
He was banned from driving for four years.
