COLCHESTER is Britain's oldest recorded town, or first city, depending on who you ask.
The town is covered by many conservation areas, recognising the many historic buildings which can't be found anywhere else.
The town centre is also surrounded by Britain's largest surviving Roman town wall, a scheduled ancient monument, and Colchester Castle has been a huge visitor attraction for decades.
And although there are many, justified, complaints residents have about the town, there are also many things which make its streets unique and beautiful places to visit.
The town's blend of old and new makes some of its street perfect for a photo or two.
There are many Instagram-worthy and snappable streets in Colchester, but which street do you think is the most beautiful?
It's time to settle the debate.
We picked five streets in the town which are close contenders for the title and we want to know your thoughts.
We've excluded many brilliant examples from further afield in the borough, like Dedham High Street or Rowhedge High Street, because they're outside the town centre area.
Vote in our poll here:
Here is a bit more about each option:
Colchester High Street
The high street is of course the hub of the town centre, as it has been for centuries.
With a car ban now in place, traffic isn't quite as dominant as it once was, and there are many historic buildings to capture - including Colchester Town Hall.
Jumbo water tower can also been seen in the background.
Trinity Street
Trinity Street, and the surrounding roads, are a hub for Colchester independent traders.
Its cobbled streets are a delight to visitors to the town.
Maidenburgh Street
Maidenburgh Street is part of the town's historic Dutch Quarter.
Primarily a residential area, its streets are easy to get lost around and Castle Park is just around the corner.
East Hill
Colchester town centre was created on top of a hill and East Hill, at the bottom of the High Street, is littered with historic buildings like St James' Church.
East Street
If you ignore the craterous potholes in the road and take a stroll down East Street, at the bottom of East Hill just outside the town centre, it really is a lovely route.
The Mill Apartments building, just over the River Colne, is stunning, with buildings like the Old Siege House Restaurant and Rose and Crown harking back to the town's Civil War history.
