KIND-hearted residents donated thousands of plastic bags to help a foodbank.
Greenstead councillor Tim Young (Lab) appealed to the public for donations of carrier bags as Greenstead Foodbank was running low.
Residents responded in their droves, with large donations of Iceland bags, as well as a whopping 6,000 Debenhams bags donated by Alison Bradford.

Mr Young said: "I put a shout out on Facebook and got a great response from residents and friends including 150 bags from Iceland where my friend, Luke used to work.
"However this was all trumped on Thursday when a woman turned up in her car with 6000 bags from the soon to be closed Colchester Debenhams store.
"That should keep us going for a while, although I don’t expect foodbank demand to drop any time soon."
