MORE roads in Rowhedge could have their speed limit reduced in a bid to boost safety.
Earlier this year, Essex County Council approved plans to reduced the speed limit the 20mph on 16 roads in the village.
However, in response to comments on the proposals made by residents, County Hall is looking to add additional roads to the list.
The new speed limit is now proposed in 19 roads in the village.
The roads where the new 20mph speed limit could be introduced are:
- Albion Street,
- Ashurst Close,
- Chapel Street,
- Church Hill,
- Church Street,
- Colne Rise,
- Donyland Way,
- Head Street,
- Heath Road,
- High Street,
- Hillview Close,
- Marsh Crescent,
- Paget Road,
- Parkfield Street,
- Rectory Road,
- Regent Street,
- Stephen Cranfield Close,
- Sunbeam Close,
- Taylors Road
The scheme was first put forward by Essex County Councillor Kevin Bentley in 2019.

The fresh proposals will have to be consulted on again by Essex County Council.
A report, which went before new Essex County Council leader Kevin Bentley, said: "We have not consulted on this proposal but it seems likely from the objections that it would obtain significant support.
"It is not known what the view of the bus operators would be, but this option would not require traffic calming measures to be installed.
"This option appears to have greater support from residents and is the preferred option of the Parish Council and the local member.
"Further, there is very little through traffic through Rowhedge because its riverside location means it is not on the way anywhere. This is also the cheapest option."
The new option would cost an estimate £32,500 to implement.
The report adds: "It should be noted that if this option is chosen the Council will simply be consulting on a revised option and should this be opposed by residents or other consultees the council may change its mind if it so wishes."
Mr Bentley agreed to move forward with the new proposals, which subject to a call-in, will now go back out to consultation.
