DETAILED designs for 200 new homes to be built in a village have been approved.
Gladman was refused permission to build the homes on land in Barbrook Lane, Tiptree, in 2019, but appealed Colchester Council's decision.
A public inquiry was held and the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Robert Jenrick stepped in to decide on the bid.
The controversial plans sparked dozens of objection comments and saw Witham MP Home Secretary Priti Patel join forces with residents to oppose the bid.
After the successful appeal, a reserved matters application for the same number of houses was submitted in February by Bloor Homes.
The plans proved controversial, with more than 50 objections submitted, however, the detailed designs for the new estate have been rubber stamped by Colchester Council's planning officers.
A number of conditions have been put in place before development can begin.

Of the 200 homes, 48 are affordable rent and 12 are shared ownership properties.
The breakdown of properties in the plan include 12 one-bed apartments, four two-bed apartments, seven two-bed bungalows, eight three-bed bungalows, 46 two-bed houses, 58 three-bed houses, and 65 four-bed houses.
There will also be a central park and plans for electric charging points in every property with a garage.
