DOUBLE yellow lines are set to be introduced on several roads in a new estate.

Essex County Council is consulting on plans to introduce new no waiting at any time restrictions on parts of the Chesterwell estate, in Mile End, Colchester.

The new restrictions are designed to ensure parked cars don't cause visibility problems at key points on the estate.

The five roads where the restrictions are planned are:

  • Cordelia Drive
  • Leda Way
  • Kola Walk
  • Lilianna Road
  • Panache Road

A Loading Only Bay is also planned for part of Leda Way.

A report states: "The No Waiting at Any Time restrictions were proposed and agreed with the developer at the initial design stage to implement a safer environment on roads within the Chesterwell development ensuring road users do not experience visibility problems and conflict due to excessive on-street parking, and that the bus route and junctions within the development are free from parked vehicles.

"The proposed restrictions are consistent with the waiting restrictions within the area and will, therefore, maintain the free flow of traffic and access, and will be implemented in conjunction with Planning Application decision No. 121272.

"A 24 hour Loading Bay Only restriction on Leda Way is to facilitate the safer delivery of goods to the nearby retail unit, keeping the highway free from delivery vehicles blocking the junction of Leda Way and Cordelia Drive, and removing the risk of collisions."
