More than 700 violent or sexual offences were reported in Colchester in April - making it the most reported crime that month.
According to the most recent police.uk data from Essex Police there were a total of 1,948 crimes reported in Chelmsford during April 2021.
Of these 464 were anti social behaviour crimes and 731 violent or sexual offences.
There were also 180 public order offences, 46 vehicle crimes, 95 drug offences and 47 burglary offences.
Police also had 127 incidents of criminal damage or arson.

It comes after data showed crime had fallen over the last year in Colchester.
Essex Police recorded 17,219 offences in Colchester in the 12 months to December, according to the Office for National Statistics.
That was a decrease of 9% compared to the previous year, when there were 18,898.
At 88 crimes per 1,000 people, that was higher than the rate across England and Wales, which stood at 81.
