AN entrepreneurial couple are opening their second 4D baby scan clinic on a Colchester business park.
Sam and Elizabeth Volk’s new Hey Baby 4D clinic will be in The Crescent, on the Severalls Industrial Estate, and is due to open later this summer.
Sam, 33, and Elizabeth, 32, were inspired to start their business after a difficult pregnancy with first child, Joshua.
Sam said: “When my wife become pregnant with our first in 2017 it was such an amazing feeling and I always assumed it would be a smooth ride from then until baby is born.
“Unfortunately she experienced regular bleeding throughout the early stages of the pregnancy which caused lots of stress and anxiety.
“We attended a private early reassurance scan around six weeks to check everything OK and the experience really put our minds at ease knowing baby was OK.
“The first scan offered with the NHS is at 12 weeks which would have been a very stressful wait for us.
“Elizabeth also had an anterior placenta which makes movement harder to detect.
“This also caused stress so getting another private scan later on in the pregnancy was great to manage more anxiety caused by not knowing for sure if baby was OK.
“Joshua Elliot Volk was born happy and healthy weighing 7lb 7oz.”
The following year the couple, who live in Assington, near Halstead, set up their new business, and opened their first clinic in Southend.
Due to its success the second clinic will open in Colchester at the end of July or start of August.
Sam said: “The clinic will offer a variety of scans for all stages of pregnancy for ladies in Colchester and surrounding areas.
“Along with reassurance scans we will also offer some fun extras along the way such as our gender reveal lighting and beautiful 4D imagery of babies in the womb.”
He added: “Our clinics are governed by the Care Quality Commission to ensure they are an extremely safe environment operated by experienced and qualified professionals.”
