A THEATRE is launching a new scheme specifically to help young performers tread the boards and budding stagehands gain vital experience.
The Headgate Theatre, in Chapel Street North, Colchester, is starting up the Headgate Young Company for people aged 16 to 21-years-old.
From the performance itself to the essential behind-the-scenes work, all aspects of any shows will be undertaken by young people.
The company’s first production will be Blue Stockings, which is set to take place from September 1 to 4, with auditions running on June 20 and June 24.
The project will also see boast technical theatre introductory sessions for young people aspiring to careers in theatre lighting, sound, or stage management.
Participants will be introduced to the lighting and sound equipment at the Headgate Theatre and get involved in exercises in stage management.
These particular workshops, for which spaces are limited, will be held on June 20 from 10am until 12pm and advance booking is advised.
