POLICE officers have recovered a number of stolen items following burglaries in the Colchester area.

Officers based at Colchester Police Station arrested a man in connection with a number of house burglaries in the town yesterday (Tuesday).

They have now recovered a number of stolen items from the house searches that followed the arrest and located a stolen vehicle nearby.

This follows on from an arrest on Monday whereby a woman was arrested in the Braintree area on suspicion of burglary.

A spokesman for the force said: "Both arrests came as a result of combined teamwork throughout multiple departments within Essex Police."
