POLICE officers have closed a busy road following reports of a "man threatening to jump off a roof".
Mersea Road, in Colchester, has been closed by police in both directions from Napier Road to the petrol station due to an incident.
The road was closed shortly after 8pm and remains shut.

A witness, who asked not to be named, said the road has been closed due to someone threatening to jump off a roof.
He said fire engines, an ambulance and police officers all rushed to the scene.
He added: "We can't exit our road Cromwell Road as the road is shut.
"The police are still here and a man is still on a roof.
"Someone is trying to talk him down."
Essex Police have set up a diversion.

As a result, we have closed Mersea Road from the junction of Southway to Napier Road.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service were called to Mersea Road at 7.10pm.
Two crews and the aerial ladder platform from Colchester attended but no action was required and they left the scene at 9.22pm.
