IT’S not every day that global figures like former American President Donald Trump and sprint star Usain Bolt pop up in north Essex.
However, that was the unlikely scenario when a popular scarecrow trail took place in Great Horkesley.
The event was organised by the Friends of Bishop William Ward Primary School and the theme was sport, to tie in with it being an Olympic year.
Mr Trump was depicted doing the high jump while other activities represented included horseracing, skateboarding, gymnastics, cricket, weightlifting and swimming.

The trail, the second to be held in the village, was supposed to take place last year but was postponed because of the pandemic.
Every class at school made a scarecrow, along with many families, groups and societies in Horkesley.
Thirty scarecrows were on display and the event raised an impressive £1,800.
Organiser Teri Duckworth said: “We’d like to say an enormous thank you to everyone that helped make it such a success.
Quick as a flash - this Usain Bolt scarecrow finished second in the public vote and was made by the Philpott family
“We’ve had so much positive feedback from everyone and it was great to be a part of an event that brought the community together.
“We’re looking forward to the next one already.”
