CONTROVERSIAL plans to open a new chippy inside part of a village shop have been approved after a crunch vote.
Mr Anabarasan's proposals to open the new takeaway inside part of Ash's Convenience Express, in Colchester Road, were approved by five votes to four.
The application requested permission to change the shopfront of the premises as well as install a new extractor hood, fan and external cold rooms.
The application was called-in by Conservative ward councillors Dennis Willetts and Lewis Barber.
Both spoke against the plans at the meeting along with West Bergholt Parish Council.
